Don Allen Krambule, one of Utahs earliest physical therapists, died February 8, 2015, one day before his 89th birthday.
He was born February 9, 1926 in Logan, Utah, a son of Rudolph and Leah Zemp Krambule. He attended Logan High School where he played football, known as Big Butch Krambule. Upon graduating in 1944 he joined the U. S. Navy, serving 26 months as an Aviation Radioman Third Class during WWII.
He graduated from Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University) in 1950. In June 1950 he married June Feulner at the home of her parents in Hunter, Utah.
Don attended graduate school at Stanford University and became a Registered Physical Therapist. He joined Dee Memorial Hospital in 1951, becoming the second physical therapist in Ogden. He treated many polio patients at this time and after regular hours he helped with polio patients at St. Benedicts Hospital.
In 1954 he opened his own office, becoming Ogdens first self-employed therapist. As such, he treated patients as far away as Logan and Southern Idaho. He retired at age 67 after treating thousands of patients, many free of charges.
Don enjoyed fishing, skiing, golfing, and spending time with family and friends at the family cabin in Alpine, Wyoming.
He loved and was proud of his children: Rick (Sylvia) Krambule, Karen (Kevin) Hillier, Randy (deceased) (Bobbie) Krambule; and grandchildren Stephanie (Ron) Brown and Ryan Hillier.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; also two great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; twelve step-great grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild whom he loved as his own.
