Don was born on May 29, 1941 in Arroyo Grande, Califonia near the ocean between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara. Don lived in Santa Maria, Fresno and Bishop, Califonia. In 1962, while serving in the army, he graduated from the Airborne Class #31 in the 43rd Company of Paratroopers. After he was discharged from the army he served in the reserve until 1967. Throughout the years, Don continued to fish every chance he got. He also loved to cook, and became quite accomplished in the art of cooking. Don would even cook up rice to feed the wild critters where he lived, such as birds, cats, opossums, etc. Don has always had a great love for dogs and has had many over the years.
