IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Higgs
August 21, 1934 – July 25, 2024
On the morning of July 25, 2024, Donald Ephraim Higgs, 89, peacefully returned to his Eternal home.
Don was born on August 21, 1934, in Ogden, Utah to Thomas and Elsie Higgs. He graduated from Weber High School in 1952. He began working at HAFB in 1966, retiring in 1987.
He married Margaret Orelene Hamblin Larkins on March 17, 1954. During their 67 years together in Ogden, they raised 10 children, opened a barber shop, founded the Thunderbird club of Utah with Don as the first president, started a snowplowing and street sweeping business and owned and operated Lynn Mobile Home Park.
Don was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength in our lives – teasing, hard-working, and endlessly creative in his ways. He taught by example. He wasn't afraid of getting his hands dirty and taught all around him to work hard.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family, and he had a passion for restoring classic cars. His favorite being his 1955 Thunderbird and the 1956 Thunderbird he gifted to his beloved wife. There wasn't a car he couldn't fix. He would sit and talk for hours about his prized collection. Don and Orelene would often be seen working together on many a vehicle. "Orelene, Orelene… bring me my water and that other screwdriver."
We will miss him and his advice, but we know he is overjoyed to be with his bride once again.
Don is survived by all of us. We all have big shoes to try and fill. His giving heart, we will never match. Thank you, Dad/Don, for your lessons and your love.
Abiding by his wishes, no formal service will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place on August 21, 2024 - his 90th birthday - from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 5500 S 1175 W, Riverdale, Utah 84405.
In lieu of flowers or donations, help a neighbor or family member, that's what he did.
