IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donis
Erickson
August 23, 1930 – September 25, 2025
Donis Leon Erickson transitioned this earthly existence on September 25, 2025, in his 95th year. Being born to George Leon and Rhoda Erickson, two dedicated and caring parents, who provided for and tutored his brother Gaylord (Bonnie, deceased) and himself in the small village of Oakley, Idaho. They made it possible for him to attend Oakley Elementary, Oakley High School and Brigham Young University, from which he graduated. He then served a mission in Sweden for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Upon his return from his mission, he was immediately inducted into the military, serving in the Army during the Korean War. During this time, he married his eternal companion Janet Waldron in the Salt Lake City Temple and experienced 73 years of spectacular joy with his wonderful companion. They were able to travel to many countries in the world and visit many areas in the United States. Donis and Janet served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Puerto Rico, Kirtland Ohio, and locally.
He had an opportunity to be an educator, teaching and coaching sports at Eagle Valley High School, Oregon Mill City Oregon and Ogden High School, Ogden Utah.
Donis and Janet were blessed with 9 fabulous children, whom he dearly loved: Cindy (Raymond), Richard (Diane), Randy, John Eric (Debbie), Lance Charles, Sonya (Henry), Anthony G (Trisha), Russell (Toni), and Katrina.
He is predeceased by his sons, Lance Charles and Richard Leon Erickson and his daughter-in-law Diane Erickson.
A viewing will be held on Thursday October 2, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park 836 36th Street, Ogden. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at South Morgan Cemetery 355 S State Street, Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 6th Ward Missionary Fund.
