Donna's youth was spent in Logan. While in Logan she enjoyed ice skating on the canal and playing with her cousins and neighborhood children. When Donna was about twelve years old the family moved to Ogden, where she attended Jr High and High School. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1953.

Donna, met and dated Arthur Lane while living in Ogden. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple in 1955 when Art returned from serving in the U.S. Army. They were married for 66 years, when Art passed away in 2021.

Donna and Art lived in Ogden for a few years and Donna worked at L.R. Samuels, a ladies clothing store. Donna and Art moved to California, Missouri, back to Ogden and then to Toquerville, Utah. They lived in Toquerville for over 20 years. Wherever Donna moved she worked as an office administrator or retail sales. While living in Toquerville she worked mostly full time at Walmart in Bloomington and Hurricane, Utah. She worked until June of 2025 and had many friends at both stores.

Donna always loved, and was very talented in arts and crafts. Her skills included drawing, sewing, quilling, tole painting, and cutting wood for various small décor items. Donna and Art used to gather barn wood to use for crafts.

Donna loved the outdoors; camping, and ATVing.

Donna is survived by her son, Russell; her sisters, Gail Datwyler Waters, Barbara Datwyler Merrill-Muzzy, and Charlyn Oyler; her grandchildren, Kevin, Shaylee, Morgan, Jason, and Tyler; and five great-grandchildren.
