Dorothy Croshaw Blackhurst, 90, passed away August 20, 2015, at her daughters home in Centerville, Utah. She was born August 4, 1925, to Frank and Amelia Croshaw in Virginia, Idaho. When she was nine, her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she graduated from high school in 1943. As part of the greatest generation, she worked as a secretary at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Pocatello during World War II, became a homemaker, and later worked at IRS in Ogden, Utah where she retired with over twenty years of service. Dorothy married the love of her life, Lynn S. Blackhurst, upon his return from the service. They were married on October 4, 1944, in the Logan, Utah temple for time and all eternity and enjoyed nearly 63 years together prior to Lynns passing in 2007. Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Memorial Park Ward. She held callings in the Primary, Young Women, Sunday School and Relief Society organizations. Her most recent calling had been visiting the elderly and the home-bound in her ward which she loved dearly. She was a faithful visiting teacher and was a friend to all. She loved the Book of Mormon which she read often. When she would finish reading it she would just start over again and had read it many times. She had a great love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. She had great friends and neighbors and loved them all. Dorothy loved her family, enjoyed playing golf, doing hand work (knitting and crocheting) and reading. Dorothy is survived by her children Ronald Lynn (Edna),Tulare, CA; Lynda Sill (David), Centerville, UT; Lou Jean Smith (Ryan), Roy, UT; and Craig Scott (Janica), Centerville, UT; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Leah Rush, Marilyn Haycock and Ruth Ann Phillips. She is preceded in death by her husband, one sister and four brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27 at the Memorial Park Ward located at 3755 Porter Avenue in Ogden at 12 noon. A viewing will be held at Levitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah, Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and from 11:00 to 11:45 am on Thursday morning at the church.
