Our loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and comrade Doug, passed away on June 5, 2016 of complications of cancer.
He was born July 31, 1952 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Orval and Barbara Larson.
Doug graduated from Battle Lake High School and received his Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Park University.
On June 15, 1974 he married Tammie Macheledt. Together they had Kai and Becky. They would have been celebrating their 42nd anniversary on June 15, 2016.
Doug retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer February 1996 after serving over 20 years. He also retired from Hill AFB as a Maintenance Supervisor on April 30, 2016.
Dougs greatest love and passion was his family who he enjoyed spending time with and doing activities together such as camping, barbecues and just hanging out. Doug was truly devoted to helping and enjoying people. Near and dear to his heart were Veterans and their families. As a dedicated Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States member he served four terms as Post Commander and in 2013 2014 he was Utahs State Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
Doug is survived by his wife, Tammie Larson; daughter, Rebecca (Tim) Fergeson (Utah), grandson, Kai Larson Jr. (SC); granddaughters, Rachael Larson and Jolie Albertson (Utah); brother, Greg (Bonnie) Larson; sisters, Marsha (Ron) Bowman and Nancy (Joe) Papa all residing in Minnesota.
