Dr. Edward Vendell Jr., of Ogden born August 11th 1932 to Edward Vendell Sr. (later Postmaster of Ogden) and Alice Alway, passed away on April 9, 2016. Ed was; Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at Utah State University.
After earning an associate degree in Engineering at Weber State, Ed received his Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering and was the distinguished ME student in his graduating class at the University of Utah. While at U of U he met and married Joan Maynard of Bellevue, Washington (whom he later divorced). Ed went on to earn a Masters in Mathematics from the U of U and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Ed and Joan raised their two daughters, Merialis Joslin (Bar Harbor, ME) and Karen (Dan) Rabin (Boulder, CO) to love the outdoors, value education, and to make the world a better place. Ed was very proud of his grandchildren, Luke, Erika, and Melissa.
Ed married the love of his life, Jeannie John (Vendell), in 1983, and they shared many decades together enjoying travel, friends, and family. Jeannies children Mike Newton (Beverly), John Newton (Linda), and Lynn Johnson (Roy) quickly welcomed Ed into their lives, and he was Grandpa Ed to Jon, Scott, Melanie, Shon, Kyle, and Morgan, and great grandpa to Koby, Charlotte, Anderson, Grace, Liam, Nora, and two more on the way.
Ed will be dearly missed by all for his humor, friendship, knowledge, and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 am, at the Ogden First Presbyterian Church, 880-28th Street, Ogden, UT. Family will meet friends 1 hour prior to the services.

Interment at: Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park at a later date.
