DuWayne Theron Lechtenberg, 89, passed away on May 31, 2020 from natural causes. He was born to Paul Theron and Twila Horsley Lechtenberg on August 7, 1930 in Bancroft, Idaho. He was raised on the family farm with his two sisters and many cousins.
After graduating from North Gem High, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the northern states mission. He then joined the Air Force and earned a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, and traveled the world repairing flight simulators. After 30 years he retired and afterward met and married Vivien C. Henrie Flint on April 12, 1984, in the Ogden, Utah Temple. A son, Leron DuWayne, was born in Ogden on August 19, 1985. They later moved back to Bancroft to take over the family farm. He was known as a gentle giant, always lending a hand to those in need.
DuWayne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Stake missionary leader, Sunday school teacher, and Stake activities leader. He was also a Scout assistant, taking boys on many fun adventures.
In 2012 they moved back to Ogden, Utah.

DuWayne is survived by wife Vivien Lechtenberg; son Leron DuWayne (Chelsea) Lechtenberg; Shellie (Clint) Naisbitt; Lezlie (Richard) Rogers; Deborah Ann (Jeff) Cox; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by Paul Theron and Twila Lechtenberg; Ella and Keith Lloyd; and Althea Gunderson.
A Viewing will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Sims Mortuary, 139 E 2nd S, Soda Springs, Idaho, at 9:00 a.m. Graveside Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Lund Cemetery, 1536 Buckskin Rd, Bancroft, Idaho.
