Dyrk Smeding Farr, a beloved father, brother, uncle, friend, artist, entertainer, and faithful servant, passed away on September 2, 2026, following a prolonged battle with health issues. He was 76 years old.

Dyrk was born on May 6, 1950, in Ogden, Utah, to Lawrence D. Farr and Joanne Smeding Stromberg. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School in Ogden in 1968, where he was an active member of the drama club and starred in several productions. Even at a young age, Dyrk's creativity, love of the arts, and flair for entertaining were evident.

Dyrk was a true original. He had a remarkable ability to make every occasion feel special and was happiest when he was bringing people together. He was, quite simply, the glue that held his family together. He loved planning family gatherings, parties, and celebrations and took great joy in creating occasions where everyone could come together, laugh, eat, and make memories.

He was a fantastic cook and had a particular love for catering events. Feeding people was one of the ways Dyrk showed his love, and he put the same care into a meal that he put into everything else he did. Nothing was ever simply "good enough" for Dyrk.

Dyrk had a legendary love of decorating. Every holiday was an opportunity to transform his surroundings, and he approached decorating with the critical eye of a true perfectionist.

He paid attention to every detail and was willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything was just so. His creativity and attention to detail made his celebrations memorable, and his Halloween parties in particular became infamous among family and friends.

Dyrk's creativity also became a career. He founded and owned several reception centers and flower shops throughout his life, combining his love of entertaining, flowers, design, and bringing people together. He helped countless families celebrate weddings, receptions, holidays, and other important occasions, creating beautiful settings and memories that would last for years.

He was also a talented artist and a member of the Ogden Arts Guild. Art was another expression of Dyrk's creativity and his appreciation for beauty. Whether through art, flowers, food, decorating, or entertaining, he had an extraordinary ability to see possibilities and turn them into something beautiful.

Music was another important part of Dyrk's life. He was an accomplished singer and member of the Ogden Opera Guilt. He loved sharing his voice, particularly as a member of his church choir. Dyrk was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden and volunteered his time in service to the church and its congregation. His faith was an important part of his life, and his church community was a source of meaning, friendship, and love.

Perhaps more than anything, Dyrk will be remembered for the way he made people feel. He loved people and loved having them around him. He had a gift for creating a sense of occasion and making ordinary moments memorable. His home, his table, his celebrations, and his life were all places where people were welcomed.

Dyrk is survived by his son, Tyson Farr; his brother, Brent Farr (Michelle); his sister, Cindy Farr; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nephews, extended family members, friends, and members of his church community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence D. Farr and Joanne Smeding Stromberg; his brother, Larry Farr; his nephew, Bryce Farr; and many dear friends and loved ones.

Dyrk leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the traditions he created, the celebrations he planned, the meals he prepared, the beauty he brought into the world, the music he shared, and the countless people whose lives were touched by his generosity and creativity.

He will be deeply missed, but his larger-than-life spirit, his love of family, his unmistakable attention to detail, and his ability to turn an ordinary gathering into an unforgettable occasion will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A viewing will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 2 – 3:30 pm at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT 84403.

Funeral services will also be held on Saturday, September 19 at 4 pm at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Ave., Ogden, Utah 84401. An inurnment will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Dyrk's memory to consider making a donation to The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden, Utah, in Dyrk's name.

Dyrk's life was a celebration of family, friendship, creativity, faith, and the joy of bringing people together. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
