Ted Bunnell passed away peacefully at his home in Roy, UT at 88 years old surrounded by family on March 21, 2017. He was born to Leila Inez Criddle Bullock on March 24, 1928 in the Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT and adopted by Calvin LeRoy Roy and Essie Farish Bunnell on March 29, 1928. He graduated from Ogden High School and enlisted in the Army at 18. He was stationed in Japan and served 15 months. After returning from Japan, he married Carma Swenson on June 16, 1948. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degrees from the University of Utah in Speech Pathology. He worked for the Ogden and Weber School Districts. He married Luacine Peery Pingree on October 5, 1989 in Oceanside, CA. They had over 20 years together traveling, gardening, and golfing but moved closer to family in Roy, UT in 2008 because of declining health. Luacine died in 2011 at 98 years old. Ted loved the arts. He oil painted, sketched, wrote poetry, assembled elaborate model railroads and villages, and he loved acting. His favorite and most notable role was as Tevye in Fiddler on The Roof at Weber State College. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, a step son, and a step grandson. Ted is survived by his half-brother, Eugene Clyde Criddle of Wildomer, CA; two daughters: DeLaine Oyler (Mark) of Roy, UT and Nadine Bunnell of Holladay, UT; four sons: Roy Melvin Bunnell (Karen Carruth) of Oceanside, CA, Edward Terry Bunnell of Roy, UT, Bruce Lee Bunnell (Sue Belnap) of Ogden, UT, and Bradley Ted Bunnell (Kathleen Evans) of Mesa, AZ, 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren. He is also survived by Luacines children: Julie (Don) Woodward, Kathleen (Nick) Vesper, Evelyn Edwards Pingree, J. Stephen Pingree, Chris M. (Ann) Pingree. The family especially appreciated the care given by Marci, Sarah, and Brittney of Independence Hospice during his final weeks. A Viewing will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at Leavitts Mortuary. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
