Ella Opal DetterichElla Opal Detterich, 92, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, in West Haven, UT.She was born June 9, 1920 in Artesia, New Mexico to John N. Wingfield and Olive Jonas. She attended school in Deming, New Mexico.Opal married Lloyd Detterich In November 1952. During their life together they had lived in California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington and finally Utah. Opal and Lloyd were the gate keepers at the A Bar A Ranch in Wyoming and enjoyed spending time at the ranch. Lloyd was her soul mate and they were married for almost fifty years at the time of his death in 2002.Opal was an Eastern Star member, had volunteered with the Senior Companions program, and many other hospitals and nursing homes. She was an animal lover and always had a dog in her life.She is survived by her sons, John E. Hilty, Rodney L. (Janice) Detterich, daughter-in-law Loretta (Max) Shiffman, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Detterich, parents, one son, Lloyd Dean Detterich and her brother, J.W. (Dutch) Wingfield.The family would like to thank the staff at Peach Tree Place, where she resided for the last six years, for the love and care she received while there. A special thank you to Meghan, and the staff at Curo Hospice, for their compassion and care these past few months.Services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St.,Ogden, UT.
