Ellen Neoma Warren Bunce Eden danced through life bringing her smile and a friendly hello to all she met. Whether you were a grandchild learning to make bread or a stranger in the produce department trying to select an artichoke; Mom would take the time to share her love of cooking and good food. One of Mothers greatest regrets was not getting to know her own mother. Born April 19, 1923 to Geneva Burns Warren, Mom was just two years old when Geneva died. She lived with Aunts and Uncles who loved her and cared for her; but the loss of her mother was always a sad part of her heart. This loss magnified the love and care she showed to her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After graduating from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1941 she worked doing electrical mechanic assembly. It was there she met and, in 1942 married Lyle D Bunce. It was then, she told us, that she began to create something she felt she had never had; a family of her own. As with many young couples in the early 40s, Lyle enlisted in the Army and while flying photo reconnaissance missions in the South Pacific, Ellen stayed home in California, working and ultimately giving birth to their first daughter, Penny Michelle Bunce Ogle (Gilbert). Luckily, at the end of the war, Lyle returned home and Mom again had a family of her own. This special family was completed with the birth a son Dale Udell Bunce and then a daughter, Elyse Lynne Bunce Otto (Jeff).Ellens life was full of all the things a wonderful mother did. Working on a shoestring, Mom taught herself to sew making everything from school clothes to prom dresses. She was a scout leader, camp counselor and loving Mother. Whether it was a ballgame, dance recital or parade; Mom was always on the sidelines cheeringnever in the spotlight. When Lyle suddenly died, she went back to school and after many hours of study was able to find a job as an Executive Secretary.John Henry Eden wooed and won Ellen and in 1966 they were married and made a charming home in San Bernardino, CA. John brought 3 grown daughters Janice K. Richardson (Art), Judy A. Renius (Al) and Mary Jo Rosen (Al) to complete Moms family of her own. Following retirement Ellen and John moved to Sedona, Arizona and the fun times began. Mom had a Bed and Breakfast where repeat guests enjoyed her homemade goodies and delicious breakfasts, their garden fed themselves, the neighbors and the quail. But the best was Ellen got to dance again; but this time she was in the spotlight and we were in the audience cheering!Moms family of her own grew to include 4 granddaughters 3 grandsons and ten great grandchildren: Michelle Ogle Zak (Bill) Elisabeth, Kimberley, Christine; Melissa Ogle Lewis (John) John Michael, Jacob, Julianne, Jessica; Jenny Dillard, Dominique; Jaime Dillard; Damon Ogle, Avery; Derek Ogle, Rebekah and Andrew Bunce.Ellen continued to dance when they moved to Grass Valley, CA and even at the age of 85, living in Eden, UT she performed with her daughter in a tap dance recital! We will always remember Mom standing in front of the microwave, zapping her coffee for 22 seconds and doing a quick timestep or two! Ellens celebration of life will be held in Sedona, AZ., April 17, 2011. Interment will be in Sedona Community Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com
