Ellen Anderson Marlar Spencer passed away at Ogden Regional Hospital November 29, 2014 surrounded by family. She was born on June 11, 1917 in Stanrod, Idaho the 8th of nine children, to Gustav and Anna Anderson who where Swedish immigrants homesteading in Stanrod. A short time later they moved to West Ogden, UT. She attended Ogden City Schools. Ellen married Paul Marlar. They had three children, Bruce, Sandra and Dennis. They were divorced. She married Raymond (Bud) V. Spencer. He had two daughters, Renee and Sharon. These two families became one. Bud passed away in 1996. Ellen sold their home in Ogden and moved to Monte Vista in Roy. Ellen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved to attend the temple with her daughter, Sandra. She loved hosting a Christmas Eve party for family and friends including the children at the Ogden Christmas Box House. Ellen enjoyed traveling with her son, Dennis and spent time in Mesquite, Nevada during the winters with her daughter and son-in-law. Last winter she spent two months in Molokai, Hawaii with her son, Dennis and daughter-in-law Linda. She made wonderful friends while she was there. Ellen is survived by two sons, Bruce (Brenda) Marlar Mesa, AZ and Dennis (Linda) Spencer, Perry, UT, son-in-law Robert Frew, West Point, UT, step-daughter Renee (Richard) Birch, step-son-in-law Webb Sypherd, 14 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 20 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband, her daughter Sandra, step-daughter Sharon and three grand-children. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at O.R.H for their care and concern. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary 836-36th Street, Ogden. Meet and greet will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be at Aultorest Memorial Park.
