Syracuse - Elwin Herbert Dransfield resigned his position in life on May 27, 2015 at the William E. Christofferson Salt Lake Veterans Home. He was born November 29, 1922 to Herbert and Clara Margaret Dransfield in Ogden, Utah. Elwin married Myrene Brian on July 22, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away on March 21, 1986. He then married Katherine Hansen Van Luyk on July 10, 1993.
Elwin valiantly served his country during World War II. He graduated from Weber State College
with an associates degree. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. At the end of
that service, a coworker who had worked next to him stated that he had never heard him say
a swear word or a bad word about anyone he worked with.
Elwin was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he was a
high priest. He gave many years of service serving in many callings, including bishoprics and
on the high council.
Elwin, or Ed, as he was fondly called by family and friends, was a gentle loving soul who was
kind to everyone. He truly showed unconditional love to his family. He gave his kids and
grandkids many fond memories on the boat, in his motor home and in their secret place. He
was deeply loved in return and will be greatly missed.
Elwin is survived by his wife, Katherine Dransfield; his children Dale (Peggy) Dransfield,
Keith (Joyce) Dransfield, Darla Gardiner, Sharon (Clare) Peterson; step daughters: Karlene Wissel, Kathleen (Don) Smith, Cherlyn (Richard)Grossenbach, Lyndel (Iwan) Black; he had 44 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren who all adored him.
Elwin was preceded in death by his wife Myrene Brian Dransfield, his daughter Bonnie Butt and step daughter, Connie Hansen.
The family wouldlike to thank everyone at the William E. Christofferson Veterans Home in Salt Lake City for all the special care they gave our Dad.
