Eugene H. "Gene" FritzMarch 20, 2012, the first day of spring, our Dad closed this chapter of his life and moved on to start the next. Eugene Herschel Fritz slipped away from us after spending 16 days in the University of Utah Burn Unit. He died from causes secondary to TEN Syndrome.Dad was born in Meadville, PA., on April 16, 1924 to William Herschel and Audrey Ellen Fritz. He was raised in Meadville. On March 5, 1943 he married Marie Lillian Hall. Mom and Dad resided in Ashtabula, OH. for 35 years. During this time, Dad was employed by Reactive Metals. He retired in 1981. The hilarious and easy living stories of life on the shores of Lake Erie have provided us all with great memories. Dad was famous for his quick wit and "one liners". Dad worked hard and played hard. It was a good life. Upon retirement, Dad and Mom moved to Ft. Walton Beach, FL., for a short period of time, later moving to Utah and residing in Uintah in 1982. Dad didnt just like being outside; he thrived while being outside. He enjoyed keeping a beautiful yard, golfing and fishing with family and friends. Poker night with the old boys was looked forward to weekly. He took great pride in his wood shop and made many creative pieces. His hands were always busy with a project or a crossword puzzle. Dad is survived by three sons: Gail E. (Diana) Fritz; Gary L. (M. Lou) Fritz: and Gregory Fritz. He has seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank The University of Utah Burn Unit. The skill and care provided by the team of Doctors, nurses and specialists were brilliant. We found great comfort in their compassion and dedication. Services will be held for "Gene" on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 880 28th Street Ogden. Cremation under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com
