Evelyn June West Dean passed away January 25, 2017 at her home in Roy, Utah. She was born September 23, 1923 to George and Grace Pincock West in Ogden, Utah. Evelyn was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the old Weber College swimming pool. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1941. Evelyn married Arvel Don Dean February 20, 1945 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple July 12, 1945. Evelyn enjoyed writing poetry and sharing it with others, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles with Arvel. She belonged to a womens club for many years. Evelyn served in many callings in the LDS church but her favorite calling was Junior Sunday School Chorister. After Evelyn retired from the Defense Depot Ogden, Arvel and Evelyn served in the Washington Spokane Mission serving two years and volunteering in the mission for several more years. Evelyn is survived by her children, Dennis (Cherie) Dean, Bibs Vivian Dean, Janis (Colin) Kendell, Laurie (Dennis) Illum, Scott (Joyce) Dean; siblings, Georgia Taylor, Bill West, Alan (Marian) West, 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren with three on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arvel Don Dean; granddaughters, Heather Eck, Hilary Hernandez; grandson, Rick Illum, Troy Allen; son-in-law, Bob Brown; sisters, Josie Edmunds, Faun Paul and Donna Tracy. The family would like to thank Bibs for the five years she took care of Mom. They would also like to thank Ashlee and Tiffany from Intermountain Hospice and Dr. Brent Williams. A Viewing will be on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Roy 28th Ward Chapel, 3345 West 5200 South Roy, Utah. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 1:00 to 1:45 pm. Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
