IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn
Draper
October 30, 1937 – April 30, 2024
Evelyn Neil Draper passed away at home in Huntsville on April 30, 2024. She was born October 30, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Robert Armstrong Neil and Florence Maycock Wade, and was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She graduated from Ogden High School, studied nursing at the University of Utah (graduating in 1959, and later received a Master's Degree in nursing from Columbia University in New York. In 1965, Evelyn married Joseph Alan Draper in Ogden, Utah and went on to have two daughters, London Draper Lowe (Trent Lowe), and Cortney Ann Draper.
In the early 1970s, she began teaching in the nursing program at Weber State College, now Weber State University (WSU). In 1975, she started WSU's "Emergency Care & Rescue program," which was the first paramedic program in Utah, and one of the first in the United States as well. As an Emergency Room nurse, she knew the critical importance of training first responders, such as firefighters and deputies, to care for individuals with life-threatening traumatic injuries and/or medical conditions. For those who have received care from a paramedic or EMT, the value of this training is beyond measure. Her life was dedicated to her family, friends, and caring for others.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, and two brothers (Andy & Gary). She is survived by her daughters, son-in-law, granddaughters (Keaton, Audrey, & Emma), grandson (Spencer), and great grandchildren (Adalyn & Harvey).
London & Cortney would like to extend a sincere thank you to Tennille Pitcher for helping mom to have "a best bud & happy days" during her final years, and to Shelby Pitts, NP for always being there to provide support and comfort.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10th at the Huntsville Stake Center (6500 E. 1900 N., Eden Utah, 84310). A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
