It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Faye Loftus Pebley, 86, passed away on the morning of June 2, 2026.
Faye was born on August 12, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, to John W. Loftus and Mary L. Hobbs Loftus. She was the second oldest of eight children.
She graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1957. On September 24, 1958, she married Melvyn C. Pebley, and they were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on April 16, 1976. Together, they were blessed with three children: Jeff, Michele, and Tricia. Mel preceded her in death on August 6, 1993.
A faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Faye served in many callings throughout her life. Her favorite was serving as the Relief Society President. She also served a mission for the LDS Employment Resources Services.
Faye loved to read, camp, fish, crochet, and quilt. She lovingly handmade 100 quilts over her lifetime that still cover her family in love.
Faye was very witty and had a great sense of humor. She understood most jokes, even the ones we thought might be best left unsaid around her.
Faye was one of the gentlest people you could meet, but she also had a very spirited side. If she became upset and let it stew for a while, everyone around her knew it was best to run. Mel had the talent of bringing this out in her.
Prior to Mel’s untimely passing, they enjoyed bowling, traveling and camping. She often joked about catching bigger fish than him. Above all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was the greatest joy of her life.
Faye loved getting together for family gatherings with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She rarely missed a family birthday party unless she was not feeling well.
Faye was an incredibly strong, resilient, and stubborn lady. She often shared stories of her childhood and the challenges of growing up in such a large family that shaped her into the strong person she became.
Faye is survived by her son, Jeff (Shannon) Pebley, and her daughter, Trish (Doug); seven grandchildren (four bonus grandchildren); and eighteen great-grandchildren (eight bonus great-grandchildren). She is survived by her two brothers, Darrell (Lorna) Loftus and Blaine (Gaye) Loftus. She is also survived by Darrell (Sharon) Pebley, Carolyn Tingey, Kevin (Rachelle) Pebley, Vickie Pebley, Mike Riney, and her furry best friend Ginger who did not leave her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel, her daughter, Michele, four brothers, and her only beloved sister.
The family would like to thank all her neighbors and friends for taking her to church and lunch outings. She enjoyed any time she was able to get out of the house.
Faye leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten and a hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Although our hearts are broken, we are thankful for the beautiful memories that we will always cherish.
Days before her passing, she shared a beautiful glimpse of something greater than what we can see and possibly understand. The vivid and personal details she shared were absolutely amazing and bring comfort to her loved ones left behind.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 11th at 11:00 AM, at Leavitt's Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, Utah 84403, with a viewing held an hour prior at the same location, starting at 10:00 AM.
