Frances M. Chavez, our loving wife, and mother passed away April 9, 2012. She was born June 4, 1927 to Nicholas Romero and Maria Elena Archuleta, in McPhee, Colorado. Frances married Fred Chavez on December 9, 1946 in Mancos, Colorado at St. Rose Catholic Church. In her early years she was a waitress, cleaning woman, a loving wife, mother and grandma. She was a fabulous cook and loved celebrating holidays. Frances was known for the best red chili no question. She loved God, her soaps, pinion, family and beer. She may have lived a simple life but she made an impact that will live on for generations. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary for over 40 years where she held various positions. She was affiliated with the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton, Utah. Frances is survived by her daughters, Annabelle Coria, Sandra Chavez-Houck and special son-in-law Todd Houck. Also survived by her beloved sister-in-law Virgie Nickerson, brother-in-law, David Nickerson, special Niece, Sadie Martinez; nephew Benny Aragon, Raymond Jr. Aragon and their families; grandchildren, Frank Gallegos, Trina (Octavio) Gallegos, Miguel (China) Coria, Bianca (Juan) Tafoya, Veronica Serrano, Amber Houck, great grandchildren; Tony Anisa, Annabell, Diamond, Isabell Coria, Carlos Ramirez, Angelic (Jonah), Brittany, Heidi Kylee, Melissa Gallegos, R.J. Hart, Arianna Serrano, Evanglee, Samantha and Fred Tafoya and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Nicholas and Maria Elena Romero, brother, Joe Romero, sisters; Sally Aragon, Katie Aragon; niece Lonnie Avalos, special sister in law Georgia Romero. The family would like to thank the staff at Tanner Clinic and Apple Village Assisted Living, Summit Home Health and Hospice. Also a special thanks to her Hospice R.N Brenda Postel and C.N.A. Martha Magana. Services for Frances will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel, Layton, UT. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden with Rosary to be held at the Mortuary prior to the viewing at 6:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com
