Roy; Our loving brother, son, uncle and friend, Frederick Herschel Paulsen, Jr. 83 passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016 from a valiant battle with Alzheimers. Fred was born on September 16, 1932 in Green River, Wyoming a son of Fred Herschel Paulsen and Meda Amelia Schultz. He was raised in South Ogden and Washington Terrace graduating from Weber High School in 1951. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then enlisted into the Army where he served for Two years in Germany as a telephone lineman. After being discharged from the service he worked at Hill Air Force Base and as a Security Guard at The Freeport Center where he retired. Fred married his sweetheart Kathleen Zerbe where they made their home in Layton. She later passed away. A few years later he sold his home and then moved in with his sister Carol in Roy, Utah. Fred loved collecting coins, belt buckles, and baseball caps and enjoyed hunting. He especially loved to read and has a room in Carols home which was his own personal library with a display of many, many books he enjoyed reading and others could read too. He enjoyed watching football and National Geographic. Fred was loved by his family and friends and had a great sense of humor. He was known to his family and friends as Junior. Surviving are his brothers Neill (Lorraine) Paulsen, Clinton and Roy (Nancy) Paulsen, Clinton. Sisters Maxine Corwin, Sunset and Carol Brugger, Roy. And nieces and nephews including great and great-great. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brother-in-laws Donald Corwin and Terry Brugger. And many other family members. Graveside services will be held on Friday January 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah and 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
