Garth Lythgoe Barnes's Obituary

Garth Lythgoe Barnes passed away at home on October 23, 2016. Garth was born in Ogden, Utah to Harold Loche and Lillie Lythgoe Barnes. He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber College on an art scholarship. Garth spent a short time in the Navy Reserves and served an LDS Mission in East Germany. He married Linda Faddis. He had a successful career in sales and retired in 2002. Garth married Maureen Jaramillo in 1993. They lived in Roy and West Haven and shared a love of all creatures great and small. He will be missed by Clancy, Sophia and Ziggy and his granddog, Emily with whom he spent a lot of time. He was reunited on the Rainbow Bridge with his beloved cat of 20 years, Braveheart, who passed away in December 2015. Garth was an artist and leaves behind paintings and drawings that will be cherished forever. He played the piano, loved all music, especially Jazz and enjoyed being out on the golf course. He loved to tinker in his garage and working on the family cars to keep them in mint condition. In addition to Maureen, Garth is survived by four children, Steve (Lori), Dana, Luann Vigil (Terry) and Tristan. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, Brittnee, Samantha, Dalton, Riley, Melissa, Jake and Hallee; five great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both parents and brother, Gayle. The family would like to thank all the health care providers who treated Garth during his illnesses, especially the Sarcoma team at Huntsman Cancer Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Wright, Melissa, Amber and Tricia, Dr. Jason Bruse and his staff, Polli and Denise at the Ogden Clinic. Garth was a Christian and attended the Alpine Church in West Haven. Thank you to Ross Anderson and Sue Peters for their spiritual guidance. Garths family and friends feel privileged to have witnessed his strength, courage and optimism from the time he was diagnosed with Angiosarcoma Cancer in March 2015, the 50 years he lived as a Type 1 Diabetic and the complications that occurred later in life.
