In Loving Memory of Gary Howard Close

Gary Howard Close, age 67, passed away peacefully in Roy on Saturday, December 21st, 2024.

Born on October 29th, 1957, in Ogden, Utah, Gary was the beloved son of Howard and Carma Close. After the early loss of his mother, Gary was blessed to be embraced by his stepmother, Mary Close, who lovingly took him in as her own.

Gary had a deep passion for fishing and spent countless peaceful hours by the water. He adored his Boston Terrier dogs and never missed a Raiders game. His love for NASCAR was matched only by his skill in the kitchen, where he crafted meals that brought joy to his loved ones.

Gary's greatest pride and joy came from his family. He is survived by his daughter, Misty (Zak) Overduyn, and his three cherished grandchildren: Adyson, Tyler, and Jaxon Overduyn. He also leaves behind his sister, Vicky (Val) Carver, and his brother, Walter Close.

He was a loving and devoted brother, son, father, and grandfather whose warmth and humor touched everyone around him.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Howard Close; his mother, Carma Close; and his loyal dogs, Snoopy and Raider.

A private family service will be held to honor Gary's life.
