Gay Hatfield's Obituary

Gay Hatfield May 18, 1932 ~ January 14, 2020 Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed peacefully in her home at the age of 87. Gay was a devoted wife and mother and loved to play tennis and to travel. She married her beloved husband, Hat, in 1954, and celebrated 50 Golden Years before his passing in 2005. They moved to Ogden, Utah in 1956, when Hat was transferred there with IBM, and soon after started a family. They traveled often between California and Texas to see family, as well as seeing most of the United States. They became snowbirds in the mid nineties where they met many wonderful lifelong friends. They traveled with them into Mexico and toured around Arizona, spending evenings telling stories and watching the sunset. Gay is survived by her three children: Bruce (Becky) Hatfield of Kimberly, Idaho; Scott (Mary) Hatfield of Washington Terrace, Utah; and Jill (Dave) Penrod of Washington Terrace, Utah. She is also survived by five of her sisters, seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Gay is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister. We would like to offer a great big Thank You to Inspiration Hospice for all the wonderful people that assisted her in these last few weeks. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, Utah 84403, with a Visitation from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com.
