IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gayle Jean
Boren Child
April 29, 1950 – March 3, 2024
Gayle Jean Boren Child, 73, of Roy passed away surrounded by her family in the home of her granddaughter in Brigham City on Sunday March 3, 2024.
Gayle was born on April 29, 1950, in Ogden Ut, to Arvil Boren and Jean Vanwagenen Boren. She was reared in Washington Terrace and graduated from Bonneville High School and LDS Seminary in 1968.
After High School she attended airline school in California. She thoroughly enjoyed the time on her own away from home associating with friends and co-workers. The job promised upon program completion was not available, so Gayle's career was at IRS in Ogden as a Data Transcriber for more than 35 years before she retired. At work she enjoyed associations with a group of ladies. She especially enjoyed their personal Christmas party and ornament exchange. They continued to include her for a few years after retirement.
On Sept. 23, 1971, Gayle married David Eugene Child in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They celebrated 50 years together, did everything together and were best friends. More than 40 of those years they lived in Clinton UT. In 2018 they moved to Roy, Ut where they resided the rest of their lives.
They reared two children Tamra (Ryan) Young, Inkom, ID, and Dustin Child, Ogden, UT. They have five grandchildren, Mckaiya (Fernando) Mendoza, Kyeranne Young, Kimberlynn Toft, Alexis Child, Eric Child, and 3 great-grandchildren, Scarlette, Dean and Azriel.
Gayle suffered much with many trials and ailments over the last 6 years, but she remained optimistic and often offered a smile or words of wisdom. One of my favorites she said as we were discussing ailments was "Sometimes you have to be thankful for what you DON'T have." She found great joy visiting with family and held on to meet her newest great grandson, Azriel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, two brothers Greg and Ken Boren, and a grandson-in-law Eric Toft.
A graveside will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
A luncheon will follow graveside at the Lakeview Ward 4900 S. 2000 W. Roy, Utah.
