George Allen Tabish

George Tabish, a beloved resident of Ogden City, Utah, passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 77. He suffered a sudden heart attack which tragically took him from us too soon.

George was born on May 14, 1946, to the loving parents George E. Tabish and Peggy Jane Tabish at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, Montana. He grew up in a warm and nurturing environment surrounded by his family's love.

His early years were spent attending St. Anthony’s Catholic School until the 6th grade, and then transferred to Hawthorn Public School up until their family relocated to Rathdrum, Idaho. There he continued his education at and even played football for Lakeland High School. It was during these school years that George began showcasing his determination and passion for life.

In 1963, George married Kathy J Haney in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Their marriage blessed them with three wonderful children: Billy, Georgia, and Deana. Although their journey together ended in divorce, George later found love once again when he married Cindy L Thompson (Welch). With Cindy came two stepchildren, William S. Dunn and Rozann J. Dunn. In 1974, they welcomed their Sixth child into their lives - Daniel A. Tabish. Together as a blended family, they made their home in North Ogden, Utah.

George's legacy lives on through his adoring children: William J. Tabish (Raquel), Georgia J. Tabish (Steve), Deana Marie Gilpin (Eric), William S. Dunn (Jacy), Rozann J. Dunn (Tom), and Daniel A. Tabish (Alexis). His presence is deeply missed by his fifteen grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda Lynn, Cassie, Josh, Tiffany, Kattie, Chance, Jaden Preston, Zane, Zoe, Kai, Griffin, Fisher, and Sophie. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Crimson, Lyric, Jakoba, Jerrika, Khristopher, and Karra.

George is now reunited with his heavenly granddaughter Jessica Jeanne Bryner-Painter. He is also preceded in death by his parents George E. Tabish and Peggy Ann Tabish as well as his sister Marion Angela Tabish.

In the Ogden area, George was a well-known and respected figure. He had a special knack for making friends wherever he went. Known as the guy who would lend a helping hand at any hour of the day or night, George was always ready to assist with a flat tire or a broken furnace. His talents seemed limitless; he had an uncanny ability to fix anything that came his way. It is this generous spirit that endeared him to so many.

A family favorite memory of George showcases his remarkable ingenuity and unwavering determination. One day, he decided to repair a player piano that he had never seen or worked on before. Despite it being an unfamiliar challenge, George fearlessly dismantled the piano because he believed that he could fix it. To everyone's surprise (especially his cousin's), within hours the piano was back together and playing music once more.

To honor George Allen Tabish's life and commemorate all the joy he brought into our lives, memorial services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
