Georgia Golightly Anderson, 67, of Layton, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Georgia was born on April 12, 1955, to Jesse Chatterton Golightly and Mariam Bronson in Ogden, Utah.
Georgia graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1973 and then obtained her cosmetology license, working for George’s Salon in Washington Terrace for several years. During this time, she met the love of her life Marty Maxfield Anderson, and they were married on June 18, 1977 in the Ogden LDS temple. Together they had 5 children: 4 sons, Shane, Brett, Chad, & Casey and 1 daughter, Heidi.
Marty and Georgia raised their family in Lyman, Wyoming; Walla Walla, Washington; and Layton, Utah. Georgia was a devoted mother who gave everything she had to her children. They loved playing games and spending time together. Georgia also loved working with children and served many years in the Primary organization. While raising her children, she also worked as a lunch lady and daycare supervisor. Georgia just recently retired from nutrition services at the Vista Campus in Farmington. She loved working with the students at Vista and was looking forward to going back as a substitute during her retirement.
Georgia had a heart of gold and spent many years serving everyone around her. Whether it was feeding one of her children’s friends a meal or offering a place to stay, she never turned down anyone. Georgia also loved her time as a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Georgia is survived by her eternal companion, Marty, her children Shane (Sarah), Heidi, Brett (Amy), Chad (Sierra), and Casey. Georgia loved spending time with her fourteen grandchildren and was anticipating the birth of her 15th in December 2022. We will greatly miss her birthday treats, visits, and special presents. Grandma never missed a soccer game, wrestling meet, ballet recital, or other special event in her grandkids’ lives. Her grandchildren were: Mariah (Alex), Ranell, Ella, Zack, K’Lee, Cole, Anthony, Raelynn, Ethan, Luke, Isaac, Marvin, Elizabeth, Oakley, and baby girl Anderson (Dec 2022). Georgia is also survived by her brother Gordon (Lorraine) Golightly, sisters Joey Iverson, and Judy Ellsworth and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Roger Golightly.
