Obituary

Gerald L. "Jeb" Burnett passed away on January 14, 2013 of Pancreatic Cancer. Dad was born on July 31, 1931, in Ogden, Utah; the son of Lewis E. and Mary A. Deem Burnett. He attended Washington Jr. High school, kindergarten through the 10th grade, then Ogden High School and graduated with the class of 1949.He enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended the Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, TX, graduating as a Surgical Tech. He was then stationed at the Tokyo Army Hospital in Tokyo, Japan; for a three year tour of duty and received an honorable discharge on June 19, 1952.He later married Bonnie J. (Dolores) Munson on November 29, 1952. From this marriage three sons and a daughter were born. Dolores died on September 1, 1988. Jeb later married Geraldine F. Olsen Suiter, she passed away on December 9, 1998.Jeb graduated from Weber State College in 1956, and from the University of Utah, receiving a Bachelors Degree in 1958 and a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1964.He worked part time as a fireman and engineer at the O.U.R.T.D. Co. while attending school and worked 29 years in the Child Welfare programs with the Weber Morgan Social Service Dept. He retired in 1987 as a supervisor of the Adoptions and Foster Care programs. Jeb was a member of the American Legion Post #139 and the Elks Lodge #719. His hobbies included but not limited to, restoring and maintaining his ol 1965 Mustang, collecting coins, some golf, traveling as much as possible and fishing and camping. He especially loved being with and seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren growing and developing in life. Jeb is survived by his loving companion and best friend Rebecca Nelson, his four children, Jerry (Rhonda), Michael (Cherry), Mitchell (Chanel) and Cheryl (Robert). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren along with his 2 dedicated buddies, Mighty Muggins the Mugger and Cool Bosco.
