Gilbert Ernest Valdez, 68 passed away September 2, 2013. He was born on September 21, 1944 to Willie Valdez and Sofia Martinez in Park View, NM. Gilbert graduated from Ogden High School in 1963. He married Peggy Chacon and they later divorced. He then married Nancy Rallison. He was employed by the Defense Depot Ogden (DDO) for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 1966 and served 13 months in Vietnam. He was a member of the Roy Eagles and the American Legion Post #9. Gilbert is survived by his wife Nancy Valdez of 33 years; his son, Derek Valdez; Daughter, Sonya Valdez; step-daughter, Stacy Rallison; step-son, Sam Samuelson; a sister, Ernestine Martinez; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also has lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sofia Valdez; a brother, Willie Valdez; a sister, Julia Valdez and a sister, Toni Martinez. Memorial Mass for friends and family will be on Friday September 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
