Hooper, UT Glen Lewis Johnson passed away on October 19, 2018. He was born in Ogden, UT November 27, 1934, and was one of three children born to Lilian R. Evans and Orville C. Johnson.
Glen graduated from Ogden High School and married Janice L. Riddle on January 20, 1956. They were married for 37 years when Janice passed away September 27, 1993.
Glens early life brought with it challenges and rewards. After retiring from the IRS, we can see that his 31 years of service had many of both. He was recognized for his commitment to equality and his example to others with the IRS Directors EEO Award; during which time, he was also battling his demon of alcoholism. When Glen received the support he needed to overcome this demon, he then spent the next 31 years devoting his life to the service of others. This included helping thousands by co-founding the Womens Retreat House in Ogden. To us and those he helped out of the darkness of alcohol and drug addiction, he truly is our hero.
Glen left behind two daughters, Diane M. (Cliff) Stebner and Lorrie (Doren) Savoie; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Joan Romney.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife Janice; son Dale Lewis; daughter Eileen; his parents; and one brother Dr. O. Douglas.
