Our dear friend Glen has taken his final lap, passing away at the age of 60 at his home on October 1, 2013 after suffering from a heart attack do to a preexisting heart condition.
Glenn William Steigmeyer was the oldest child of William Eugene Steigmeyer and Sharon Lou Simon. Born in Garrett, Indiana on September 3, 1953; he had a younger brother Brent and younger sister Clara that passed away, along with their father many years ago.
Glenn graduated from Garrett High in 71, he continued his education at Ft. Wayne Art College in 79, he then moved to Utah where he rented a house in Kamas where he cared for a young bear named Marsha. He also lived in Park City, working for a KPCW radio station. He finished an associates degree in Civil engineering from Wasatch Civil engineering in 2000. He was employed by Weber Basin Water Conservatory for 10 + years; where he enjoyed his job do to the great friends he was able to work with.
Glenn was an avid skier, photographer, and loved putting model cars together in his spare time. He enjoyed volunteering for the 02 winter Olympics, and was a veteran volunteer for the Sundance film festival. Philanthropy was important to him; he gave to much nonprofit animal conservations, and any organization that supported the arts.
Glenn loved to spend his weekends timing race cars at the Miller Sports Park in Tooele, which fit perfectly for the man who loved fast cars, especially Porsches. In the winter youd find Glenn on the mountain officiating for the international skiers. Glenn is preceded by his mother Sharon, uncle Neil, nieces, nephews, cousins along with his long time love Michelle Peterson whom he loved dearly, and her family. He also leaves behind many good friends and a beauty named Sharona.
There will be a celebration of life held in the near future, while his remains will be sent home to Indiana to rest in a family plot. Online condolences may be made at leavittsmortuary.com
