Gordon H. Peacock, a retired Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) executive and retired Army officer, died peacefully on April 3, 2017 at Pine View Transitional Rehab in South Ogden, UT. He was 92 years old. He fought a pitched battle with many illnesses over many years and always came out on top. He gave himself to a greater power in his final days.
Gordon was born in 1924 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the middle child of three children, along with his sisters Grace and Jeanne. Gordon fought in Germany in World War II, receiving the Bronze Star. He went on to become a Company Commander in the 82nd Airborne, retiring on Okinawa after twenty years of service. He worked for the federal government for another twenty seven years before retiring for good. He is a member of the DLA Hall of Fame.
He spent his time sailing and teaching sailing and focusing on his beloved wife, Ruth, who predeceased him in 2007. He is the father of two sons, Gary and Michael.
Gordon made an army of friends in Ogden and had a tremendous impact on so many lives. He will be greatly missed.
Services for Gordon will be held on Tuesday April 18 at 3:00pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street in South Ogden. A reception to celebrate Gordons long and wonderful life will immediately follow at the Country Hills Manor Condominium Clubhouse on 40th Street in South Ogden. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA.
