Harold Don Ashcraft, 89, was born March 5, 1928, to Vernia and Verna Bingham Ashcraft in Moody, Idaho, the fifth of ten children. He passed away on September 3, 2017. He graduated from St. Anthony High School, served an LDS mission to the Southern States and served in the US Army 523rd Signal Company for two years during the Korean War. He graduated from Utah State University then taught math and electronics at Weber and Bonneville High Schools. He enjoyed fixing and fiddling with electronics, could fix anything and operated Dons Custom TV for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Don married Joyce Thurman on September 15, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised a family of seven children, three girls, and four boys. He was an active member of the LDS church and held many positions. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple for 16 years. He had a strong testimony of his Heavenly Father and knew of his Saviors love.
Every Christmas since 1999 he self-published compilation of his stories in a memory book which he delivered to family. He leaves us with cherished memories that we will hold forever in our hearts.
He loved his children and grandchildren and each of them knew they were special to him. Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joyce of 64 years on September 15, 2017, children; Julia (Rick) Twitchell, Harold (Kelly) Ashcraft, Stephen (Bridgett) Ashcraft, Sharon (Chad) Marcusen, Linda (Brad) Williams, and Richard (Alexis) Ashcraft; daughter-in-law Ilene Greene, 38 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kent; two great-grandchildren; his parents; and three brothers and sisters.
A viewing will be held Friday, September 8, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th street, Ogden, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 11:00 am at the LDS Church, 976 33rd Street, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services, from 9:30 to 10:45 am at the church.
Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
