Helen Miller Hoffmann, 95, returned to her Heavenly Father February 27, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was born July 18, 1921 to Charles and Elisabeth (Bessie) Miller in Clear Creek, Utah. She is the youngest and only surviving of eleven children: Lavilo, Mary, Pearl, Thomas, Violet, Reta, Maude, Myrtle, baby Miller (stillborn) and Marie.
In 1939 she married Wendell H. Hoffmann. They built their dream home at 41st and Madison in South Ogden in 1948. They had six children who were the joy of their life. They were married 64 years when Wendell passed away in 2003.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed teaching Primary, the Young Women, and Relief Society. Helen worked as a credit manager at Auerbachs, served at the Senate Caf, and the Ogden Temple. She also worked at DynaPro (a family owned herbal supplement company). During that time, one of her loving daughters opened a restaurant and respectfully named it Moms Bakery. Helen quickly became the favorite in town for her delicious pies and pastries. Over the years, Helen shared her talents for baking with her children and grandkids. During the holidays, Helen could be found in the kitchen baking pies with her family, while keeping it all under close supervision. She loved making her Christmas candy for the neighbors and her friends. You could always count on Helen to bake cinnamon rolls or other goodies throughout the year.
Helen was a world traveler and taught her family the value of traveling and building memories together. She was a number 1 Jazz fan! Helen may not have gone to many of the fames, but she watched every single game on TV and would coach or cheer from the best seat in the house. For any reason she was not at home, the Jazz party would gladly come to her. She would gather family and friends; everyone around would know there was a Jazz game that night. Helen loved to go camping, in a trailer of course, and again would make baked goodies for all that came to visit. She loved the beauty of this earth and cherished it. Helen loved her family and friends. Many called her a second mom. She always had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Because of this kindness, she grew her family to far more than just blood relatives.
Helen temporarily leaves behind her children and their spouses: Rowene (Kent) Weaver, Sandy Dymock, Marlin (Ilene) Hoffmann, Rod (Jolene) Hoffmann, Gary Hoffmann and Tammy (Mike) Tantilla and Janet Hoffmann. She has 25 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
We will miss her dearly and are so thankful for the amazing person she has been to all. We love you!
