Helen was the last of 5 children born to Henry C. Hall and Amelia Ford Hall. She was raised in North Ogden on the Hall fruit farm. She attended elementary school in North Ogden for 3 years, then lived with her aunt in Salt Lake City where she attended Roland Hall for 2 years. She later returned to North Ogden. She graduated from Weber High School, attended Westminster College where she played on the girl’s all-star basketball team and sang in the girls’ choir. She later returned to Ogden and worked on the family fruit farm in the summer while also working for J.C. Penney.
She met her love LaMar Madison while attending church. After LaMar returned from his Navy service, they married and moved into a rental home in Ogden canyon where they lived for two years. Later, they built their home on the east bench of Ogden, where they raised their five children and remand for 57 years.
Helen enjoyed singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School and participating as a Mariners at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogden. She was also an active member of PEO, the Queen Esther chapter of the Eastern Star, State president of Mothers Club, Church Deacon, and board member of the Sweetheart program. Helen was Cub Scout leader for her boys and Girl Scout leader for her girls. She also dedicated many hours as the PTA president. She was an amazing mother to us and to all the neighborhood children.
Helen spent her life making her children’s birthdays and holidays fun and memorable. She planned many family camping trips, enjoyed sewing, traveling, crochet, ceramics, puzzles, and decorating cakes for everyone’s birthday and special occasions.
Helen made friends with those with whom she lived at Our House, and most recently, The Lodge in North Ogden, which she shared with her 20 lbs. loving Havanese dog named, Roomer which she cared for deeply. We wish to express our thanks to those who made her life more enjoyable and comfortable along the way!
Helen’s motto in life was “friends are the flowers in the garden of life”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amelia Hall, her husband, LaMar Madison, and her siblings, Henry and George Hall, and Bertha and Virginia Bissenden.
She is survived by her children, Mickey (Trudi), Guy (Janet), Hally, Jeff (Stephanie), Amie (Ken), her nine grandchildren, Quaid, Brie, Tiffany, Jereme, Madison, Jaidin, Scout, Jordan and Kenzi, and eight great grandchildren, Kalon, Kaylee, Roni, Brexton, Declan, Jackson, Hudson, and Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the YCC Family Crisis Center (yccogden.org).
