Herbert Rex Abegglen - January 29, 1946 to December 16, 2024

H. Rex Abegglen, 78, passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 16, 2024, in Ogden, Utah.

Rex was born on January 29, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Herbert Christian and Annie Ruth Banks Abegglen. He grew up in Lynndyl, Utah, and graduated from Delta High School, where he was a baseball star. After high school, the family moved to Taylorsville, Utah. Rex attended Brigham Young University for one year before serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark. Following his mission, he returned to BYU and graduated with a degree in computer science. Rex married Leslie Holbrook on January 2, 1982. They made their home in Ogden, and raised two sons, Ryan, and Chris.

Rex was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held various callings throughout his life (many of those years as a ward clerk). He was a kind-hearted and loving man, and was willing to lend a hand when needed. He was a life-long Los Angeles Dodgers fan, and was elated when they won the most recent World Series. He was an avid reader, loved good music, and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. His adventurous side had him skydiving with his siblings and doing the NASCAR racing experience in Orlando, Florida. He and Leslie enjoyed dancing, and traveling together.

Rex is survived by his wife, Leslie; two step-sons, Ryan (NaLoni) and Chris (Marie); siblings, Adele (Mark) Gardner, Mark (Suzie); and LeAnn; 7 grandchildren, and 3 beloved cats. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Linda Ruth; and 2 grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Rolling Hills Ward, 1570 East 1300 South Ogden, UT 84404. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.
