IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Iola Jeanette Hansen
Wagner
August 13, 1935 – January 17, 2024
Iola Jeanette Hansen Wagner left her earthly life on January 17, 2024; shrieking and hollering "Wait, I can't go yet, I haven't made my bed", or was it "I don't remember if I turned off the coffee pot". I don't remember. Or that she is already missing her family but anticipating the next phase of life. She was born August 13, 1935. The second daughter of Dorothy Blackman and Jesse Hansen, She grew up in Ogden. She married Robert N. Wagner; they were later divorced.
Following her graduation from Weber State College, she happily taught children in the Weber School District for 31 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed several volunteer jobs; for which she received numerous awards. Especially pleasant were the delightful hours spent at Treehouse Children's Museum and those teaching adults to read and spell at the Weber County Library. She was a rape victim advocate for Weber County Sheriff's Office and a domestic violence victim advocate for the YCC. She also spent a summer working as a Hostess in a restaurant in Yellowstone NP. She loved Yellowstone and chose to remain very active after her retirement.
Iola was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogden, serving as a Deacon, an Elder, and a Stephens Minister. She was a devoted 50 year member of the congregation. Iola was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She held many offices, including those of Worthy Matron and Chaplain of Queen Esther, Chapter No.4, Ogden, and Grand Chaplain of the Order of the Eastern Star of Utah; a position she especially loved. She was also a Grand Representative to the State of Michigan.
Iola is survived by her daughters Dorothy Anne Wagner and Nickie Jeanette Stoffers, a sister Donna McGill, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Iola's body is being cremated through Leavitt's Mortuary. As per Iola's wishes, there will be no viewing or formal funeral services. She requests that you blow her a kiss, tell her goodbye, for now and give someone you love an extra hug.
The family wishes to thank A Plus Home Health and Hospice for the professional and compassionate care they provided to Iola, the staff at Avamere at Mountain Ridge, where Iola lived for 8 years and the numerous health care providers that touched Iola's life for the last few years. She was immensely grateful for your care.
Grief never ends… but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of LOVE -Jessie Stillwater
