Words that are used to describe our mother and grandmother begin with sassy, spunky, and a little spitfire. Though she stood in a relatively small frame, it was well-known family legacy that “no one bosses Grandma around”. It was true as a mom and grandma that she was fiercely independent and that if any one of her children or grandchildren faced a barrier or a bully, she was there to help push through it or work around it.
She is survived by her six children, spouses, 19 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her proudest moments in life included that all six of her children having served honorable missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and that all her children completed college educations and have successful careers that they enjoy.
Her favorite phrase was “let’s go”. Whether it was for a Costco run or on vacation, she was always ready to go. She discovered a love for water aerobics as an empty nester and grew to be a fixture in the water aerobics classes at the Ogden Athletic Club. She loved her swim community, and they became a core part of her social circle. She was the first to welcome a newcomer to class and was often found chatting and connecting with her friends while in the water.
Additionally, she adored her friends in her neighborhood. They spent hours playing cards, going to plays, taking walks together and simply being a united community. Those shared experiences with her neighborhood friends were cherished memories for her. She loved them dearly. They were a huge support to her and she to them over the years.
Grandma’s treat cupboard was legendary. What her children and grandchildren knew they could always count on were delectable, store bought treats that she always had on hand. We will always remember See’s Candies and Peanut M&M’s as the treats she enjoyed the most.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the Burch Creek Ward Building located at 1084 East 5150 South in South Ogden, Utah.
