Iris Stewart Taylor McCrary passed away peacefully in her sleep March 4, 2015. She was born to Jennie Mae Searle and Edson E. Stewart.
Iris married Wayne Allen Taylor and later divorced. From that union five children were born whom she loved dearly. Iris (Mom) said, "I may have given them life, but in return they made my life worth living!" She loved to bake and entertain her family at home.
She later married her high school sweetheart and best friend, William P. McCrary. They loved to travel and loved to spend winters in the sunshine with the rest of the snowbirds!
Iris was a LPN and loved her nursing career dearly. She also worked at the IRS, Hill Air Force Base and at the DDO where she retired in 1989.
Iris is survived by her children: Starla Lowder, Colette (Alan) Stratton, Pam (Don) Mecham, Pat (Dee) Young and Merle (Chantel) Taylor, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and "Peppy", her special little companion. She was preceded in death by both parents, her brothers, Edson and Richard Stewart; her sisters, Jean Williams, Bonnie Dewey and Eunice Allgeier; also, her very special friend and brother-in-law, Don Allgeier; and one great grandchild.
Thank you to the Gardens Assisted Living and its residents for taking care of Mom and Peppy. Special thanks to Alisha Richins for your care and support.
Private Graveside Services and a Celebration of her Life will be held with the family and friends when the flowers bloom and it is sunny and warm, around Easter, her favorite holiday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and near her very dear mother and sister, Eunice, at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
Arrangements under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.
