J Roger Johnsen's Obituary

J Roger Johnsen "An Officer and a Gentleman" I, J Roger Johnsen was born to wonderful parentsVernon L. and Wanda Jensen Johnsen in Brigham City, Utah on March 12, 1936. I passed from this earthly life on, July 25, 2019 at the age of 83 in Ogden, Utah. I have had a wonderful life! I lived my younger years in Bear River City, Utah. I graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City. I attended Utah State University and graduated from Weber State University. I also graduated from Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS. I served many years in the National Guard and active-duty, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. I lived many years in Ogden, Utah. I made a difficult, but worthwhile decision to get an LVAD seven years ago, which allowed me to extend my life and remain active. I enjoyed skiing and teaching my children, grandchildren, and other school children to ski, as well. I also enjoyed golf with family and friends, and loved teaching anyone that wanted to learn the game. I enjoyed many memorable fishing trips with my close friends. I have two younger brothersLloyd (Faye), Oak Harbor, WA., and was proceeded in death by Brent and his wife, Marcia. I was married to Barbara Warnke and was later divorced. We have two childrenBart J. Johnsen and Janice (John) Flinders, both of Salt Lake City. I married LaRae Neville, who had three children that became my ownCraig (Janyc) Holmes, Kevin (Kay) Holmes, and Kerry (Audrey) Holmes, all of Ogden. LaRae and I had 41 wonderful years of marriage that I am forever thankful. We have ten grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I would like to thank Dr. Jerry John, the LVAD team at Intermountain Medical Center, and Intermountain Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to me and my family.
