Obituary

Jake Kapp, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living. He was born in Ogden, Utah on October 11, 1916. Jake was a member of LDS church; graduated from Weber High School. Ruth Wolf and Jake joined in marriage on June 3, 1938. He was the manager at Wansgards meat department and retired in 1981. He took pride in hard work and stayed active golfing. He had a great love of sports and was a big supporter for WSU basketball and football teams. Jake and Ruth made frequent outings traveling around in their camper and driving in dune buggies with his sister and brother in law. For many years Jake was an active member in the Elks, Eagles and Foot Printers organizations. He is survived by daughter Jean Redmond and son in law Kenneth Redmond of Roy, UT., sister Edna and brother in law Dale Silverthorn of Ogden UT., 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Jake was a devoted husband, father and family man. He played a large part in his grandchildrens lives. He now joins the loving wife that he has missed so much whom preceded him in death on December 28, 2002. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Ulrick Kapp and Bertha Venstra Kapp, brother Henry Kapp, sister Katherine Ramsey and several beloved pets. A special thank you to Mountain Ridge Assisted living for the care and love they have shown him. A crypt side service will be held at Leavitts Aultorest Mausoleum on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden.
