Davis
July 13, 1941 – January 21, 2024
On January 21, 2024, James (Jim) Edward Davis, 82, of Roy Utah, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born July 13th, 1941, in Smithfield Utah. He graduated from Weber High school in 1959.
He worked at the Defense Depot, Ogden Utah for 27 years and retired in 1993.
Jim married the love of his life Sandy Davis on October 14, 1960. They met at the Weber County Ice Skating Rink where he worked. He was a beautiful Ice skater, performing in many shows. They quickly fell in love. They enjoyed doing many things together. They fished, bowled, went rock hunting, did Rock and Jem shows, vacationed, hunted, had a rock shop in Ogden, went to Wendover weekly for many years, and did many other things together.
He enjoyed metal locating, walking at the Newgate Mall for many years with family and friends. They were always on the lookout for what he called found money and it turned into a competition.
He learned the love of rocks and rock hunting from his dad. He had a beautiful talent making mountings for the stones he made and sold many of them at their rock shop and rock shows. He was well known for his work with Opal. Jim and Sandy went Opal mining in Spencer Idaho for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories of his life, joking, having dinner, and playing cards. We knew when he was teasing by a certain smile he had.
Jim is survived by his wife Sandy; Daughter, Cindy (Ron) Leech of Plain City; Vickie (Kevin) Taylor of Farr West, Brother Burrell (Alana) Davis, Sister Lorene (David) Richards, Sister-in-Law Lea Davis; six Grandchildren and sixteen Great Grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his Parents Matthew and Lois Davis, Sister Gayle (Lyle) Grimm, Brother Steven Davis, and Great Grandson Cayden Larsen.
If you have any type of jewelry that Jim made, please wear it to the mortuary in honor of him. Thank you.
Sandy would like to thank the many doctors and nurses and Hospice for their kind and gentle help and care throughout the last year.
Funeral Services will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden Utah on Friday February 2nd at 11am. Friends may call the night before at the mortuary from 6pm to 8pm and 10am to 11am before the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Kidney Foundation of Utah.
