Jim was born July 13th, 1941, in Smithfield Utah. He graduated from Weber High school in 1959.

Jim married the love of his life Sandy Davis on October 14, 1960. They met at the Weber County Ice Skating Rink where he worked. He was a beautiful Ice skater, performing in many shows. They quickly fell in love. They enjoyed doing many things together. They fished, bowled, went rock hunting, did Rock and Jem shows, vacationed, hunted, had a rock shop in Ogden, went to Wendover weekly for many years, and did many other things together.

He enjoyed metal locating, walking at the Newgate Mall for many years with family and friends. They were always on the lookout for what he called found money and it turned into a competition.

He learned the love of rocks and rock hunting from his dad. He had a beautiful talent making mountings for the stones he made and sold many of them at their rock shop and rock shows. He was well known for his work with Opal. Jim and Sandy went Opal mining in Spencer Idaho for many years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories of his life, joking, having dinner, and playing cards. We knew when he was teasing by a certain smile he had.
