James Robert Hay Jim, our loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 due to complications following hip surgery. Jim was born on April 13, 1938 in Cicerone, Roane County, West Virginia, to Shirkey and Hattie Pearl Mangus Hay. He graduated from Walton High School in 1954 at the age of 16 and then graduated from the Charleston School of Commerce in 1956. He continued his education attending the University of Kentucky and West Virginia State College. Jim married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Whited Hay, on November 12, 1966 in Spencer, West Virginia. Jim and Nancy loved to golf and take road trips to visit family and friends in West Virginia, Ohio, and Texas. Jim enjoyed spending time with his only grandchild, Madalyn Ann Montgomery. She was the apple of his eye and, they loved teasing each other. In 1956 he started his career working for Atlantic & Southern Greyhound lines as a Senior Accounting Clerk and Supervisor. In 1963 he worked for FMC Corporation as a Supervisor of Accounts Payable and General Accounting. The final journey of his career began in 1969 when he started working at the Charleston Job Corp Center, which was run by Teledyne, later by Thiokol, and finally Management Training Corporation. Jim retired from MTC in 2006. Jim is survived by his daughter, Denise Hay (Larry) Montgomery, Huntsville; granddaughter, Madalyn Ann Montgomery, Huntsville; brothers Paul Linden (Ella) Hay, Lawrence Randall Hay ; sister Bessie Rainelle Painter, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ann Hay; his son, James Rodney Hay; his parents, Shirkey and Hattie Hay; brothers, Wendell Alexander Hay and John Wesley Hay; sisters, Mary F. Smith and Arnetta Ruth Painter. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6 8 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT. Inurnment Services for family and friends will be in Cicerone, Roane County, West Virginia, at the Hay Family Cemetery at a later date.
