December 9, 1949 – December 28, 2023
James C. Humphreys Sr, 74 of Ogden, UT, passed away peacefully on December
28, 2023, with his family by his side.
James was born on December 9, 1949, to Clayton O'Dell and Doris Humphreys in
Fayetteville, NC. He loved to play sports, baseball and football being his favorite
along with helping around the farm while growing up. After He graduated
from Stedman High School in 1968(NC) he joined the United States
Air Force in which he served with distinction for 11 years, working on
Projects such as the Appollo 16 and 17 missions to the moon, and receiving
many awards. James, better known as Jim, married Jessica L Knuth in 1972.,
they were married for 21 years and had 2 children, James C. Humphreys II,
and Jessica L.B. Humphreys. In 1993 Jim married Charlene Bybee and had 4 additional children,
Jenneya Peabody, Joseph Humphreys, Deidre Anderson, and Richard Humphreys. They divorced
24 years later., and Jim is now remarried to his current wife Sandra Williams Humphreys since
2021. Jim, was a very friendly, kind, loving person. He loved to help others when he could and
when you needed someone to talk to he was always available. He had the most contagious
personality. He could make anyone he met smile and laugh. He was so stubborn at times, and
you could not get a word in during conversations because he just would not let
you, but he would not be Jim without the stubbornness. He loved the outdoors
and spending time with his family when he could. He loved to work on cars and
teach others to do the same. Jim worked at Weber State University in facilities
management as a custodial supervisor for 15 years. Jim also earned a BS
degree in Criminal Justice from WSU as well. Jim was a hard worker and strived to be the best
person and father he could be each and every day. He was truly loved by so many and will be
greatly missed but will live forever in our hearts.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Clayton O'Dell (Cliff) Humphreys
and his mother Doris Grice Humphreys, his granddaughter Jazmine Hope
Humphreys, his great-granddaughter Maileigh Paige-Constance Brown and great-
grandson Poseidon Lahklan-Americo Hurt. He is survived by his wife Sandra
Jeanne Humphreys, his 3 daughters Jessica Humphreys, Jenneya Peabody
(Husband Cody), Deidre Anderson (Husband Alex), his 3 sons James C.
Humphreys II (Husband Ted), Joseph Humphreys and Richard Humphreys. He is
also survived by 2 sisters Janice Humphreys, Pamela H. Yenor (Husband Lorin), 3
brothers Chris D. Humphreys (Wife Melody), Gregory D. Humphreys (Wife
Debra) and Anthony D. Humphreys (Wife Julie), 9 grandchildren and 11 great-
grandchildren.
