Retired SMSGT James L. McKinneyNovember 11, 1932 ~ March 2, 2012Roy- James L. McKinney, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 2, 2012.McKinney was faithful to his country serving 28 years in the Armed Forces. After retiring from the military he also worked as a civilian for 13 years at Hill Air Force Base.He met and married the love of his life, Estrella Maria Villafruela, from Madrid Spain, on December 22, 1959. Together they had one daughter and two sons; Virgina Maria McKinney, James L. McKinney Jr., Johnney (Margie) McKinney Sr. James is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, three brothers and one sister; Carlos, Grady, Robert and Gaynell Watson. James was preceded in death by two brothers; Carlos and Grady and his daughter Virgina. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Roy City Cemetery, 2300 West 5300 South, Roy, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home, 1102 North 1200 West, Ogden. Services under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.
