James Clair Nielsen, loving father and grandfather, passed away Friday September 4, 2015 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born December 27, 1941 to Louis Ivan Nielsen and Margaret Ella Williams. He was a lifelong resident of Ogden.
Jim served in the United States Army for 3 years. He married the love of his life, Rose Ann Hiner on November 23, 1963. They had two sons, James Clair Jr. and Michael Louis.
Jim and Rosie were big supporters of the Golden Spike Hockey Club, making many friends and memories with their boys. Some of his fondest and proudest moments where coaching Mike throughout his hockey experience and Jimmy to winning the State Championship for Ogden High School. Jim was an avid fisherman. He fished daily on the Ogden River and was a member of many different bass clubs and associations, winning countless tournaments and awards with his son, Mike.
Jim retired from Gibbons & Reed Construction in 1991 after 27 years. Jims greatest accomplishment was being a grandpa to his four beautiful granddaughters, Sierra, Madison, Lexie, and Mcki. He cherished every moment with them.
Jim is survived by his two sons, Jim Jr. (North Ogden), Michael (Ogden); granddaughters: Sierra Ann (Layton), Madison Brittney (Logan), Alexis Marie (Layton) and McKinley Jo (North Ogden); siblings: Evan Nielsen (Ogden), Kathy Clark (Ogden), Faye Boyd (Ogden), Sylvia White (Des Moines Iowa), Sheila Barnes (Ogden), and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by both his parents; loving wife, Rose Ann; mother in law, Anna Hiner; sister Shirley Hill and brothers, Gene and George.
Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 am for family and friends to pay their respects on the corner of 10th and Center Street at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
Services under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
