Jan Korom Bruckman Sr., valiant son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away at his home in Layton, Utah, on June 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 11, 1936 in Bolsa, Orange County, California to Fred Michael Bruckman, and Kathryn Marie Demler. He married Florence Ilene Unthank, daughter of James Leroy Unthank and Florence Lillian Robinson on November 23, 1955 in Provo, Utah. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1959.Jan is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has served as Bishop, Stake Executive Secretary, High Councilor as well as many other callings. He and his wife served in the California Oakland mission. He was an avid genealogist for the past 30 years. Jan received his Bachelors degree from BYU, his Masters from the U of U, and was a teacher for 25 years in elementary education. He retired from the U of U after serving many years in the Instructional Media Services Department. For the last 30 years he suffered from many physical afflictions, but now he is free of pain, and physically able to serve his Heavenly Father. Jan was preceded in death by his son Paul Stephen Bruckman. He is survived by his wife Ilene, sons: Michael DavidBruckman (Tricia), Jan Korom Bruckman Jr., Jeffrey Christopher Bruckman (Kathy), Matthew Kevin Bruckman (Christina), brother Ivan Bruckman (Marilyn), Durango, CO., 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Services for Jan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the Country Creek LDS Ward, 625 South 750 East, Layton, UT. Friends may visit Monday, June 27, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Country Creek LDS ward, and one hour prior to services.Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
