Obituary

Jane Brittain, 83, of Layton, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on May 31, 2026.

Jane was born on January 20, 1943, to James Brittain and Alberta Wintle in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Weber State College with a degree in education, and went on to teach in the Davis County school district for 33 years, spending the majority of that time at Columbia Elementary in Kaysville. Teaching was her passion, and her students were her legacy.

She was single at the time of her passing, but had three marriages over the course of her life. Each relationship constituted a special chapter during which she learned and experienced a great deal. Her prior spouses were Frank Long, Ronald Hunsaker and Dudley Doebele.

Jane loved to travel and explore, and had a deep fascination for the natural beauty of this world. She believed her most important role was that of mother. She leaves behind her children: David Long, Marci (and Bret) Whitesides, Becky Wendt, Kammy (and Grant) Hanson, and Janie (and Chris) Wheeler, along with 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
