Obituary

Janet Call, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in South Ogden surrounded by members of her family on February 17, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1932 to Roland and Venetta Kelsey in Sugarville, Utah. The family moved many times around the Uintah Basin and also to California during the depression.

Janet said her family moved so many times when she was young that she never attended the same school for more than 1 grade. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1951. She wanted to go to BYU, but to pay for that, she got a job at Jacob Lake in Northern Arizona near the Grand Canyon. In 1952, she attended BYU where she met Daniel Bowen Call. They were married on August 13, 1952, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 9, 1956. They lived in several places, including Montana and Idaho, before settling in South Ogden where they resided for 63 years, finally giving Janet the stability she had always craved.

Janet was a self taught seamstress, providing play clothes and beautiful dresses for her daughters. She also loved to garden, canning many home grown fruits and vegetables to feed her large family. She spent many hours reading to her young children, and in her retired years she was a voracious reader, always found with a book in her hands.

In her later years after her children were all in school, she worked for Weber School District- mostly as a cook at MarLon Hills Elementary.

Janet's life was defined by quiet strength, enduring faith, and unwavering devotion to family. Together with Dan, she has created a family full of love, faith, and unity that will remain long after her passing. She was a person of devout faith, holding many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all throughout her life.

Together, Janet and Dan reared eight wonderful children; Kathy (Jim) King, Sylvia (Randy) Rounds, Rose (Ron) Reddish, Cynthia Swensen, Daniel (Kim) Call, Darryl (Melanie) Call, Gordon (Nicole) Call, and Jeaneen (John) Jenkins. She is survived by all of her children. She has 35 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Family was number one for Janet, she was happiest in the company of her children and her posterity remembering the names of all 155 family members until her death.

A viewing will be held Friday, February 27th, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403.
