Janet Johansen Shaw, a beacon of generosity and kindness, passed away at the age of 71 on October 3, 2024, in Roy, Utah, due to smoke inhalation. Born on July 3, 1953, in Elko, Nevada.
Janet, affectionately known by those around her simply as Janet, was a graduate of Ogden High School. After her formal education, she dedicated her early career to the healthcare industry as a Nurses Aid. Her work history also included time at Country Cuzzins gas station and DFG Goggles, where her thoughtful nature and team spirit were highly valued by her colleagues and associates. In her personal time, Janet found joy in the quiet concentration of reading and the meticulous crafts of crocheting, knitting, and cross-stitch. These interests were more than hobbies; they were a reflection of her generous spirit, as she often gifted her creations to loved ones and those in need of warmth and care.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. Janet is survived by her loving son, Chris Gunter, grandson, Cameron Gunter, her brothers, James P. Johansen, David & Diana Johansen, Thomas & Sandey Johansen, and her sister, Sara & Dean Slade and In-laws Myra (Roger) Pettengill, Sheldon (Janine) Shaw, Lonnie (Heather) Shaw, and Donna (Jeff) Linford. She also leaves behind her ex-husband, David Gunter, with whom she shared many cherished memories.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kerry Shaw; her son, John Gunter, who passed away alongside her; her father, James E Johansen; her mother, Maude Johansen; and her sister, Maudette Cartwright.
Janet's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire and guide us. She was a woman who lived her life with a gentle strength and an unwavering commitment to doing good for others. As we bid farewell to Janet, we celebrate the remarkable life she led and the countless lives she touched with her generosity and warmth. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories we share and the love we continue to spread in her honor.
Janet's life will be commemorated in a private ceremony, surrounded by her family and close friends, who will gather to honor her memory the profound impact she had on their lives. Saturday October 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM LDS Church 3845 South 2000 West Roy UT. Interment will be at: Layton Cemetery 1867 North Fairfield Rd. Layton UT.
